Marketing Meeting 11/30/11
We brainstormed places for meetings where were could have a meeting for new people before our regular meeting. We decided our first choice would be a Goodwill.
Dot Dobbins havs an office across from Centennial Park - we could ask her maybe
Fifty Forward - are they open on Sunday?
Bread of Life church on Lebanon Rd. in Mt. Juliet.
Edgehill United Methodist church?
the Unitarian church on Woodmont. Somebody in our group has to be a member of the church in order to meet there fro free. Evert and Debra are members of that church, but we're not sure of their sustained interest in cohousing.
We could contact Andrew Price from Christ Memorial church
St, Ann's Episcopal would be bad on game days.
* Kate said Goodwill has meeting rooms that are available to the public. It's on Herman st. near the Farmers Market. They have a classroom with a projector! The building has lots of window and they have a kitchenette. There will be a security guard to let us in and lots of parking. Diana will contact Matt Foster there. We should contact them soon if we want to start meeting in January.
It was agreed that contacting Andrew Price from Christ Memorial church would be a good second choice.
Suggested upcoming meeting times. (All are on Sundays):
January 8 business (no program for new people)
Jan 22nd. business plus presentation for new people
Feb 5 business only
19 business and presentation
March 4 business only
and 18 business and presentation
April 1, 15, and 29 (if we want to continue meeting every other week)
Times would be:
1-2:30 for business meeting
1-5 business plus presentation
There's a local food summit this weekend at Lipscomb. It's the type of event where we'd probably find our target audience. Cost of a booth is admission. It's $100 for 3 days.
Creating flyers and other advertising stuff:
Sue wants copy for advertising handouts. Like maybe cohousing slogans. It was felt a business card wasn't enough info, a flyer would be good. It was suggested we could used some of the copy used on the flyers we created for the workshop. Diana will get a copy of those flyers to Sue. Sue thought it would be good to have the flyer ask questions like "Would you like to know your neighbors before you even move in?" instead of making statement. Other slogans might be "an old fashioned neighborhood with a modern twist" or "Where everybody knows your name". Sue has some photographs she got from Janet and could do some nice lettering.
Do we want a flyer that lists specific meetings dates? It would definitely be a good idea to put the meeting dates on the website, which needs to be updated.
Possible locations for putting fliers:
Turnip Truck, Art Crawl, Non-Violent Communication meetings. Diana said she knew of other places that had been good before.
Do we need a budget for flyers? Sue will price some stuff and get back to us. Stuart knows a place that will print 1000 for $75.
Diana said she will send the cohousing points/slogans that she comes up with or runs across to Linda Ray, who can use them in the Newsletter.
Mary Douglas from Arkansas is coming in town next wednesday and would like to meet with somebody . Linda Ray is having dinner with her at Jim and Nick's. Linda Ray said it would be good if others could meet her too. Maybe we can send out an email.
